Not in my yard, but at Mount Field National Park. This spider (a species that I have never seen before) was hanging out with its babies on a web by the river. Would love to know the species if anyone wants to share.

Hi there! Been lurking about your blog the last hour or so admiring the vegetables (mainly the orchids), it’s so wonderful to see what other people are growing here in Hobart – thank you for sharing! (Especially that pale Disa and the Angraceum – lovely)
Is the spider by any chance a ‘Megadolomedes johndouglasi’ previously “misidentified as a type of spider found on the mainland [Megadolomedes australianus]” (–>from: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-11/tasmanian-man27s-interest-in-spiders-pays-off/5385308)

I think you might be on to something with that I.D. Great work. Thanks for your kind comments, hope you keep lurking about. Since you like orchid posts, I might just do some more 🙂

Not at all – kind comments well deserved!
“I’ll be back…” (horrendous references ensue) 🙂
